Clearly 2020 was a fun year, just look at how much blogging I accomplished. But let’s be real, if we are ragging on the slack – then we need to go back to the very beginning. No one tells you how much fun it can be to work in your PJ’s but then dislike the idea of being near a computer ever again during your downtime. Over the years I have owned a few domains and most followers over that time have traveled along for the journey. 2020 was more than a journey and it seems 2021 has started off like an unmanned train heading straight for a brick wall after it falls off a 100 foot cliff.
We tend to start the New Year off with resolutions that most of us end up breaking, so why even bother? I figured if I am going to start this up again I am not going to try going down that route. Let’s start off instead with morals, ethics and values. What is important to you? How were you raised? Was it nature or nurture?
Over the last year we have witnessed worldwide people fighting for things they believe in. We have seen many state that as the answer – I believe…I feel…I know… – though please remember, there are many false prophets among us, on all sides of the playing field. One of the many issues is misinformation, and the spread seems more contagious than Covid at this point (but not by much as the results show). So, what comes next?
I see people talking about what they believe in but when you ask someone to elaborate it seems like the conversation goes into a downward spiral for most. I never try to debate with anyone unless they are up for a good debate but where is the line drawn?
What makes the morals of one better than another? Why is person A better than person B? I don’t mean being better at doing something, I mean being better overall. Not specific to a job they have or a role they play in life.
What makes the ethics of one better than another? If your view is different than mine, why? What made you the way you are? How did you learn to behave the way you do? Who were the people that influenced you? What type of environment were you raised in? I won’t lie – when I see people spewing the hate and bullshit we have seen lately in the news I really do think sometimes these jerks were born under a rock as it tends to show each and every time they open their mouth.
What makes the values of one better than another? Have you taken up the beliefs of someone before you? Did you join a crazy cult? Are you religious? Are you are part of a culture club? Are you a part of the problem or the solution? And which makes one more over than the other? Next up: Value Theory!
