The power to choose

I was told long ago that of anything in life we have power over, each day we have the right and freewill to choose. It could be good or bad, we could learn from it or not, we can do anything within our power to choose what to do with that day or even within that days time span. What do most people do with their days?

I have seen many work themselves into an “early grave”, learn something new, make a change in life – the possibilities seem endless. So why is it that so many are giving something free (the power to choose how they live their life) away and always end up at “the bottom of the barrel”? I know someone just like this, one who chooses to constantly end up being the at the bottom of that barrel.

Many people I have seen in life are consumed with the fact that something other than themselves run their life. It could be an addiction, an illness or anything between to the two but in the end something is holding that person down. Many more times, when we look closer it is that person who is holding back what they could manage in a days time.

Each day can bring something new and exciting into the mix, another day to learn something else in life to better the overall time we spend living this life. Why then are so many people worried about what others may think rather than what they could do in a 24 hour time span?

We tend to miss out on so much when we are pushing aside what should be done with the things that really do not matter in the over all scoop of life. I see parents that work too hard, college students that work just as hard and in the end we are all missing out on what truly matters – living.

If you wake up tomorrow be thankful, it does not matter to whom you are thankful but just be thankful you have another day to change things for the better. As we continue to grow sometimes we are so consumed with what is told to us “must be” we end up losing grasp on what “should be”.

If you remember that you have the power each day to choose then you will at some point also note that you can choose for the better and end up prospering from it.
